What if ‘just care’ isn’t enough?
At Mercyland Healthcare Inc., we don’t believe that individuals with developmental disabilities should settle for the status quo. That’s why we’ve made it our mission to disrupt the standard, and reimagine what quality, dignity-driven support really looks like in Washington, DC.
We’re a Department on Disability Services (DDS)-certified residential provider, held to the highest standards, and regularly audited for compliance and excellence. Look us up on DDS’ website for our most recent audit results. But for us, compliance is only the baseline. Real impact starts when services move beyond paperwork and policies, and meet people where their lives actually happen.

Dear Mercyland Community,
At Mercyland Healthcare Inc., we believe that community connection is essential to helping individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) feel valued and included. That’s why we highlight DC Public Library events every week. From dance and fitness to karaoke, painting, poetry, and more, these activities offer fun and creativity for everyone.
These recommendations are just one of the many ways we aim to support inclusion and ensure that no one feels left out of the opportunities our city has to offer.
Our Services
At Mercyland Healthcare Inc. we believe true care goes beyond services. It’s about building lives, creating independence, and nurturing purpose. Every service we provide is rooted in Person-Centered Thinking, honoring each person’s goals, preferences, and unique journey.
In-Home Support
We support individuals living in their own homes or with family by providing hands-on care, daily living support, and skill-building activities. From hygiene assistance to community integration, our team helps individuals grow in self-reliance and independence. We also provide High Acuity In-Home Support for those with more complex medical or behavioral needs. Services are delivered in-person or remotely, depending on the individual’s preference and team recommendations.
Respite Care (Hourly & Daily)
Caring for a loved one with IDD is a labor of love, and sometimes caregivers need rest too. Our respite services provide trusted, short-term care while ensuring individuals stay safe, engaged, and active in their routines. Available by the hour or day, we make it possible for families to take a break while knowing their loved one is in good hands.
Companion Services
Our companion care is more than supervision, it’s about meaningful presence. Whether it’s a quiet evening at home or a stroll in the park, we provide non-medical support and engagement that respects the individual’s pace and preferences. Services are available one-on-one or in small groups (1:3), tailored to each person’s safety, independence, and interests.
